This art of secular living has Eastern origins, and exists nowadays in the whole world with a multitude of people from which the first to rediscover its techniques was Dr. MIKAO USUI. 
History of Dr. MIKAO USUI arrives to us according to the information that comes to us little by little from Japan. Born on August 15th, 1865 he became a Japanese Buddhist monk. In his own search of truth, towards the end of the 19th century, he rediscovered, described an old man’ sutras 2500 years old, whose powerful technique of cure was present in one of the many monasteries which he attended.

One of its Masters teaching suggested a meditation and a fast to him on one of the crowned mountains of its country "the Kurama mounts".

At the end of 21st day, it lived an initiatory mink revealing a means to him of receiving and of transmitting this powerful force of energy of cure, described in the old texts discovered a few years before.

It gave him later the name of "SYSTEM USUI REIKI RYOHO".

It described This vision, "like luminous, filled of soft colors, images and alive symbols" of which it received the significance, and the use. It worked all its life to spread this technique of laying on of hands on the body, it founded first private clinic REIKI in Kyoto in its country. Before leaving it transmitted to its turn its knowledge and initiations with more than 2000 people on the second level and ten people to the control.
Of which Mr CHUJIRO HAYASHI, that it formed itself throughout his life.

MIKAO USUI by its research, its courage and its devotion
is the legitimate giver of this practice to humanity

It was recognized for its exemplary work with the service of its compatriots, amongst other things, it was a close relation of the Meiji emperor who made are epitaph on his tomb, to thank it for what it had brought to Japan. 

CHUJIRO HAYASHI thereafter directed a private clinic
to Tokyo. It worked out handling by the REIKI and submitted several reports/ratios treating of the effects of the REIKI on various diseases.
M.HAYASHI transmitted the control of REIKI to Mrs HAWAYO TAKATA. 

A Japanese woman living in the islands of Hawaii, Little time before the entry in war of Japan during the second world war.

It looked after its tumour in particular by the REIKI in its private clinic, Mrs HAWAYO TAKATA is the principal one and single source which insufflated inside the Western world the REIKI known to date, after her return of Japan in 1938.
Mrs HAWAYO TAKATA opened a center at it or it was recognized like a large informed therapeutist and continued to spread the teaching of the reiki.
